My Artistic Journey in A Nutshell
I am a classical realism painter and mixed media artist working in San Francisco California. I have been an artist in one form or another for most of my life, but have branched out into classical realism and mixed media in the last six years or so.
I was on the brink of giving up on painting several years ago. I had reached a point artistically where I was stuck. I could see where I wanted to go with my work, but couldn’t figure out how to get there. I would start a painting and reach a technical roadblock, no matter what I tried, I just couldn’t get my work to look like what I wanted. I attended art school at San Francisco State University and obtained a degree in Conceptual Information Arts as well as painting. The education I received there was good, but the emphasis was more on exploring ideas and less on technical proficiency. I graduated with large gaps on my knowledge. For several years I languished a painter, becoming increasingly frustrated. As a last ditch effort I took a drawing class at Sadie Valerie Atelier. This class totally changed my life. I spent the next two years studying under her and the techniques and skills I learned have given me the abilities and confidence to explore multiple themes in my work.
Currently I am showing my work in the following galleries:
City Art Cooperative Gallery in San Francisco, California
ACCI Gallery in Berkeley, California
I also show pieces in shows through the Bay Area and beyond. Check out my Shows and Events page to see where I’m showing now!
